Chandni Chowk Hanuman temple reconstructed. How is it linked with MCD election in 2022?

Chandni Chowk Hanuman temple is back!

The Hanuman temple which was razed after the Delhi High court order has been replaced by another Hanuman temple overnight. We all can very much remember the political and the public outrage after the demolition was accomplished about one and a half months back. Both the BJP and AAP had blamed each other for the cause of this demolition. There should not have been such debate between the two parties because development is before religious sentiments. The prestigious High Court's order would not have been if the demolition was not a necessity. I hope both these political parties pay proper respect to the Indian judiciary.

The new temple was constructed allegedly by the residents of Chandni Chowk and Ram Bhakts. As per the media reports, the temple was built between 3 a.m and 4:30 a.m before the daybreak. Neither the BJP nor the AAP claims to have built this temple. The BJP, however, openly advocates the reconstruction of the temple. They said they are ready to fight anyone who will oppose this religious work. The AAP party too cannot afford to hurt the Hindu sentiment and they too supported the temple. However, there was no comment from the redevelopment corporation which was tasked to modernize and beautify Chandni Chowk.

This news on the internet baffled me and I could not stop myself from voicing out my concerns about this matter. The first problem is that how could people be so obstinate about their religious values? People of Chandni Chowk have put development on the backfoot. Did this situation not account for contempt of court? Imagine if a mosque was razed for any such development project and the Muslim community had reconstructed it. Would BJP and AAP have then valued the sentiments of the community? I guess the situation would have been much different. For now, I assume no political power in Delhi will try to even say a word against the temple. I find the link to all these in the MCD elections which are going to be held next year. Any party calling the temple an illegal construction would be deemed "Anti-Hindu". BJP, which is always vocal about its Hindu ideology, will undoubtedly try to give the Municipal Corporation election a religious slant. I hope that election for road development, sanitation, and other development projects is not given a tone of religion. I wish the real issues of the people are in prime focus rather than playing a sentimental card to win polls.

Jai Shree Ram.

The bystander world on the Taliban insurgency

It is not only Afghanistan’s government that has surrendered to the insurgency of the Taliban but also the world and humanity have succumbed to the influence of these terrorists. What could be worse than the world being a quiet spectator of the devastation taking place in an entire nation in the twenty-first century? What are the Human Rights organizations doing when it’s time for them to show their presence? The lives of more than 38 million Afghani men and women are in dismay. Their trepidation is evident in the grisly pictures and videos from the Kabul Airport where people could be seen falling to death after they clung to the underbelly of a plane in a desperate attempt to leave their country.  The countries in the world are busy closing their embassies and safely evacuating people from Afghanistan. Some countries accepting Afghanis, as refugees in their county, is a welcome step. However, it is not about a few lakhs of refugees who could take shelter in different parts o...

Death of Democracy legally NO, democratically YES!

There are times when we do something and regret it immediately. There are also times when we regret we did something long back. Some of our steps backfire on us and some of our actions literally mock us. Today is such a day for Mr. Rahul Gandhi. A reluctant politician who was given the job of carrying forward the legacy of his family, of leading the Congress party and the nation. The man who has immense courage to take up all the trolling and criticism. Pappu as people popularly call him. Yet again, stand in the parliament and give a speech, just to be criticized and trolled right after it ends. The man is no longer a  parliamentarian. Rahul Gandhi's conviction which followed his disqualification came as a big shock for most of us. For sure, it is the most exciting news for any common Indian news viewer. The mere thought that one of the biggest politicians, the so-called PM face of the Congress party was convicted in a petty defamation case by a district court is startling. Well, n...

The proposed population control bill and the brewing politics.

Uttar Pradesh state law commission has come up with a new draft proposing a new law which is no exception to political backlash and controversy. No matter what the law is, if it is drafted in the state of Uttar Pradesh, it will be an alarm for political discourse in the entire nation. This time the most populous state is preparing to reduce its fertility rate to control its increasing population. Uttar Pradesh alone accounts for a thumping population of two hundred thirty million which, is equivalent to the combined population of Germany, the United Kingdom, and France. The government has released the first draft of the Uttar Pradesh Population Control Bill, which is open to public suggestions. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, while unveiling the new population policy, made it clear that the government aims to bring down the birth rate from the present 2.7% to 2.1% by 2026 and 1.9% by 2030. The population control bill talks, in length, about the incentives for those who limit their...
