Are the development project and schemes a 'gift'?

Time and again, when a politician inaugurates any large project or a scheme for the citizen it catches all the local and national headlines and is often referred to as a “gift”. I object to such development works or schemes being called “gifts”. I find this term rather insulting. It sounds as if the government is doing something out of its kindness and we the poor citizen are helpless without this esteemed favor. Some media houses go to the extent of calling such schemes  Diwali bumper gift  or  mega gift . The government is neither a corporate to give us any bumper schemes nor a Me ssiah,  who is doing all these works out of his pocket. All these schemes and projects are borne out of the taxes paid by honest citizens of India. So I do not see any point in calling these gifts. Our representatives must provide us schemes; we merely vote them to power to hear their speeches.  In fact, the citizens bear the expense of these politicians. A handsome amount o...

Chandni Chowk Hanuman temple reconstructed. How is it linked with MCD election in 2022?

Chandni Chowk Hanuman temple is back!  The Hanuman temple which was razed after the Delhi High court order has been replaced by another Hanuman temple overnight. We all can very much remember the political and the public outrage after the demolition was accomplished about one and a half months back. Both the BJP and AAP had blamed each other for the cause of this demolition. There should not have been such debate between the two parties because development is before religious sentiments. The prestigious High Court's order would not have been if the demolition was not a necessity. I hope both these political parties pay proper respect to the Indian judiciary. The new temple was constructed allegedly by the residents of Chandni Chowk and Ram Bhakts. As per the media reports, the temple was built between 3 a.m and 4:30 a.m before the daybreak. Neither the BJP nor the AAP claims to have built this temple. The BJP, however, openly advocates the reconstruction of the temple. They ...

INDIA IN 2060: How things have changed

2060: HOW THINGS HAVE CHANGED My neighbor is very happy today. He distributed all the strawberries of his home garden. His only son has successfully qualified the masters of Edaphology. The study of soil and stuff, you know. He is going to earn a lot. Work in the agriculture department has evolved in recent times. Students dream of a flourishing career in the field of agricultural science. In my time, there was a great craze for the engineering and medical stream. Students taking these streams were considered more intelligent and studious. For some, it was a matter of family prestige. The charm of learning coding and artificial intelligence was increasing. Apart from this, teachers and counselors were trying to burst myth about the false valor of science stream and encouraging students to choose a stream what fits their goal and interests. When I compare education and society back in 2015 and now, I am flabbergasted. The education system has totally changed. People do things that...
